When you publish a blog, RSS feeds are great ways to get your message out and connect with readers in your target market. RSS feeds allow you to broadcast out your messages, bring in new readers to your blog with an interest in your chosen topic, and build-up a committed reader-base, all at the same time. In addition, RSS feeds are a great choice of a variety of tools which can help with your SEO linking campaign.

One of the first things you quickly discover as a blogger is that a successful search engine optimization campaign can take up a ton of your time, and raise your frustration level to new heights, all at the same time. Many new bloggers generally start with the blog submit sites and even attempt manual RSS feed submit techniques, but eventually they all end up deciding that it is just all too much work to do with any real regularity. However, if they give up completely it really hurts their SEO efforts and their ability to grow and monetize their blog successfully. And, if they choose to do it half-heartedly or only occasionally, then it really isn’t a very successful to help improve their search engine rankings.

The problem with using a manual feed submitter, or using an individual RSS submitter even, is that it is very time consuming to deal with on a consistent basis. Most bloggers simply want to blog and get their words out to the world; they do not want to spend hours upon hours on their SEO and marketing efforts. By submitting your RSS feed to each site at a time, you can easily spend hours upon hours of time and never really get too much return for all of your work.

Software programmers, many of them bloggers themselves, have developed some great semi-automatic RSS feed submit tools which you can now choose from to help submit your RSS feed without it being such a time consuming proposition. These software programs allow you to simultaneously submit your blog and RSS feeds to literally thousands of directories, and to do it all with only a couple quick mouse-clicks.

Setting up the RSS feed submission software is a breeze and the submission process takes less than ten or fifteen minutes each day, from start to finish, making it much faster and easier than manual RSS submit attempts.

If you are a blogger interested in publishing RSS and getting your feed out into the RSS databases of the world, I would highly suggest that you check out some of the amazing new RSS software tools available to you today on the market. Choose a tool that is easy to use and one which will allow you to reach the maximum amount of directories possible for the least amount of hands-on work. Additionally, if you are taking the time to use more robust XML feed technologies, you want to use a semi-automatic feed submitter for those as well.

By remembering that your ultimate goal as a blogger or webmaster is always the most exposure and back links possible, for the least amount of your time, you simply cannot go wrong using a semi-automatic feed submitter. And, your search engine rankings will soar through the roof as a nice by-product of all of that exposure and linking.

Google, being the largest and most used search engine and is extremely important to optimize your website for. As a matter of fact, if you optimize your website just for Google you’d find your rankings in Yahoo! and MSN will jump up higher than your ranking in Google. I’ve optimized many websites that show up in at least the top 20 listings in Google and found that in each case they ranked higher in Yahoo! and MSN usually in the top 3 positions with most in the number one spots.

Most everyone agrees that with Google content is king. So writing good copy with just the right amount of keyword phrases, for keyword density is important. And natural anchor text links is second to the throne, which takes lots of work and proper timing to do properly.

Third in line are keyword phrases (notice I said phrase because single keywords are almost impossible to optimize for), which need to be researched to find the right phrase for you and not used to often in the content/text to get the right density. Used to often and you’ll hurt your ranking.

Fourth in line are the Meta Description Tag which when used properly can actually bring visitors to your website who wouldn’t normally come there. Of course there are several other factors involved with getting that elusive number one spot.

But what most everyone often overlooks is what I call the fifth element which Google uses to determine their ranking of a website and that's the domain name.

People, even SEO companies, don’t either know the importance of the domain name to Google or take the time to chose the proper name for the website. Most just use their company name or what they conceder a "Cool" name for their websites. Now, unless your company is well known or at least well known in its field, using a basically unknown company name is pointless. Even more pointless is the "Cool" name.

The entire reason you optimize your website is to get visitors from search engines, so why not use all the tools available to get the best ranking possible for your website.

Use your domain name as one of those tools. Instead of your company name or the "Cool" one, use a keyword phrase, one that describes your product or service. Take your time in choosing the proper name. Make sure that it will work best for your website. If you not sure ask your friends and relatives what keywords they would use to find your product or services on the Internet. You might be surprised at what they would use.

keyword elite review

You have the keyword phrase that you know will work. But before you jump online and get that domain name there are a couple of things you may still need to do.

Let's say you're the owner of Mike's Bikes and you specialize in Colorado Mountain Bikes so you figure to kill two birds with one stone and use the domain name mikescoloradomountainbikes.com to keep your name in it along with using the keyword phrase. Now this might make sense to you but you’re not Google. You're not going to like it but you need to drop the mikes out of the name because it's dead weight.

So now you've got coloradomountainbikes.com but wait before you burn up the keyboard use Colorado-mountain-bikes.com instead. Why? Because Google sees this as three different words and would see coloradomountainbikes.com as a single word. When people are doing a search they will not be using coloradomountainbikes, they are going to use Colorado mountain bikes. The bonus is that your domain name now becomes a keyword phrase used by Google when it performs a search.

There are a lot of people who, when they become interested in making money online, turn to Affiliate Marketing. This is not surprising as it can be a fairly easy entry into Internet income; at least it seems so at first. In going the Affiliate Marketer route, there is no need to have your own product and, in some cases, you can even get by without a web site. There are some affiliate programs that actually provide each of their affiliates with their own replicated web site to sell the products or services. Others running affiliate programs have sales pages that the marketer can send potential customers to. The mechanism, like email, for sending the prospect is encoded with the affiliate marketer’s unique affiliate ID number so that the proper marketer gets credit for the sale and receives the resultant commission.

Affiliate Marketing

A high percentage of people who begin affiliate marketing don’t make enough money to continue in it very long. Often, they end up spending more of their own money advertising and promoting affiliate products and/or services then they actually make. This is truly unfortunate because a lot of these people are already in a precarious financial position and that is the reason they are looking to make some money online. They get so excited about promoting and hopefully selling someone’s product or service that they don’t do adequate investigation before getting involved.

Selling anything on the Internet is normally a very difficult proposition. Anyone considering affiliate marketing should take a serious look at that term “Affiliate Marketing.” Sometimes they are referred to a “Affiliate Programs” or something like that. Trust me on this, the most important word in Affiliate Marketing is Marketing. Even if it does not appear in the phrase, it is the key word. If people don’t know immediately that they are in the marketing business, not the affiliate business, they are destined to fail. It is all about marketing. If you are not into marketing you should not be in Affiliate Programs.

People considering any type of Internet business must be very, very careful. We live in an age where there are a lot of charlatans and unscrupulous people on the internet who are preying on the “newbies” (those new to Internet Marketing). Once one starts looking for an appropriate online business the liars and scam artists seem to come out of the woodwork and have but one goal… to separate you from your money. You have probably seen some of the hype: Make $40,000 by noon tomorrow; Do nothing and make $500 an hour; How I made $1,000,000 in three months. There is no end to these claims, but I can tell you, except in very rare instances they are lies. Think about it for a minute… If I really had a way to make $150,000 per month, would I share it with anyone for $47.00? Not unless it is all of those $47.00 payments that makes me the $150,000. But then, after you pay the $47.00 how will you make that kind of money? You won’t.

Internet marketing

Please understand, there ARE legitimate opportunities out there. But it seems to me the crooks outnumber the honest businesses about 10 to 1. So be careful.

If you want to go the business opportunity route instead of (or along with) the Affiliate Marketing I suggest you start small. Keep your required up front investment small enough that if you lose it all it won’t hurt much. Make sure you are comfortable with the program and you can see yourself promoting it. Once you are in, remember it’s all MARKETING!

Some of you may have already experienced writer’s, or in this case blogger’s, block. This is when you can’t seem to start blogging anything worthwhile, sometimes not even a single word’s worth.

How could this happen when you were so good at blogging before? Why is it that you can’t get one word written? And the most frustrating thing of all: the more time you spend thinking about blogging, the less able you are to start your next project! Is there any cure? Luckily, there are a few things you can try.

Visiting other people’s blogs is a good start. Read through your favorite ones, or do a random blog search and see what gets turned up. Reading what other people have to say can spark your own creativity and send you over the hump of blogger’s block. Leave some comments to get you started; you might be able to expand on their ideas, and sometimes you can track back to your own blog. Looking at your blog inbox can help, too, as there might be a question or comment there that can get you started.

Look for a word or topic. Then begin writing about it. You can also do this with pictures. Check out photos and think of something to write about it. You can also check the news, which is always rich with current events. Even if there isn’t anything that directly relates to what you normally write about, writing about something completely different than your normal topics can help.

If those things do not seem to work for you, you can search for creative or journal writing software to help you with your writing problem. Oftentimes, these things have suggestions of topic or idea that can help you get started.

Think about an extraordinary topic. For example, you can research about inventions and inventors. What was the first car ever invented? Anything that you fancy can become a blog entry. You can look for answers to questions like the one about the car at online resources like encyclopedias and almanacs. When you have the answer, blog about it. You never know, maybe some people are thinking of the same things and you have answered their questions. Besides, it can be good to drift from your usual topic one in awhile. Your readers might feel refreshed by the change.

If none of these exercises help, it might be time to do something unrelated to writing for a while. Sometimes we just need a break from writing! Go outside, go shopping, go to a movie. Anything to take your mind off of your blog. You just might feel refreshed and ready to start blogging once you get back up in front of your computer.

There are a lot more ways to beat blogger’s block. If you come up with something new that helps you get over it, think of what a good blog topic your experience would be! Who knows, you may even help someone out there who is struggling with blogger’s block!

As internet marketers strive to lure more visitors to their online business, a unique blog design solution is typically a focal point of the marketing campaign. This personal interactive tool is one of the effective methods for attracting more internet traffic to a web site where actual business transactions are serviced. However, due to time constraints or limited resources, some marketers are unable to maintain a blogging presence. Although it certainly helps to have such a wise marketing strategy in place, it is not absolutely necessary to have a blog for one's online company. However, a blogging presence should receive serious consideration even if the web site owner does not have an actual site devoted to such an endeavor. That may sound confusing - having a presence, but not having a site. A further explanation is needed.

For any internet marketer, the main purpose of having a blog is to acquire more visitors who will become paying customers. This goal can actually be achieved without an actual blog. A savvy web site owner can harness the power of such a service by replying to another blog owner's site that is related to the appropriate topic or business venture. The reply can be a few words or a few sentences in length. When the entry is made, you can leave a web site address as a backlink for marketing purposes. Repeat this process with similar sites - preferably many sites if at all possible. More backlinks equates to more customers. Several software programs devoted to such a routine can be found on the internet with a diligent search and will shorten the amount of time that is required to make these entries. Choose the program that is suitable for your needs.

Making appropriate comments at each site is to be expected and that particular blog owner may not appreciate a signature with a backlink only. For example, if you are replying to a 360 Blog Yahoo site, be sure to leave some genuine comments and thank the owner for allowing the remarks to be made. Fostering goodwill amongst fellow internet residents will give the web marketer assurances that future responses will receive the highest priority for placement - not rejection.

A recent MySpace blog survey suggested that socializing through blogging would continue to grow for many more years. The popular trend will certainly expand and this will necessitate online business owners to concentrate a proportional amount of their marketing schemes on using blogs as an instrument for attaining more customers. Replying to blogs with backlinks is a sound practice, but consideration given to not use an actual blog should never be dismissed either. The best blog design solution is one that is well placed and is suitable for the web site owner's demands.

In today’s fast pace of technological advancement, more and more people are engaging into online business. They have seen the fast proliferation of the information technology.

With this, the industry is trying to cope up with the growing needs of the market by creating various techniques, strategies, and devices that will best suit the necessities of the consumers as well as the online businesses.

Moreover, with the proliferation of the credit card industry, more and more people are enticed to do “cashless shopping,” where convenience is the name of the game.

In fact, some statistical reports can attest that in the U.S. alone, nearly 500 million credit cards are being issued every year. From this point, consumers are enticed to use their credit cards, which accounts to almost 50% of all the expenses, which is more than $50, of the average consumer.

That is why certain marketing tools such as the merchant account were created in order to compensate the growing demands of the market. This can be very useful especially because almost 60% of the products and services available in the market are being sold online.

The Concept of Merchant Account

Merchant accounts are actually “bank accounts” created by a particular online business with a merchant bank, which provides necessary consent to accept credit card payments via online transactions.

The “merchant account provider” will be the one to make the necessary transfer of funds into the business’ bank account as soon as there are payments made by the consumer.

In line with this, many online businesses are wondering whether it is really necessary for them to get a merchant account. Hence, for those who wish to know the answer, here is a list of what merchant account can do for the business:

1. A good way to start online business

One of the greatest benefits of using merchant account for online business is that it can provide instant ease in online transactions especially for those who are just starting new.

2. Safe transactions

The merchant account provider will provide the necessary tools that will safeguard the financial matters of the online business. This refers to the management of fraudulent activities over the Internet such as scams, identity theft, etc. They will also provide the business with advanced “customer service” such as automated payments, security, and handling orders.

3. Flexibility

With a merchant account, the online business can customize the needs of the company by choosing the credit cards that will only be allowed in their online transactions.

Moreover, they can also select the proper kinds of credit cards that are appropriate in the kind of business that they have.

4. Convenience

Merchant account is the most economical and feasible way of accepting credit card payments online. The process is quick to establish, hence, both the business and the consumer will not have a hard time accessing the benefits through this online transaction.

5. No super add-ons

The best thing about getting a merchant account is that the businessperson will simply get what he or she needs. This means that when the business will apply for a merchant account, there will be no extra requirements needed.

Unlike applying for credit cards, most merchant account providers will not evaluate your credit history. That is why merchant accounts are also applicable even to the new online businesses.

Indeed, merchant account can provide online businesses a thousand and one ways as far as online transactions are concerned. Sales will be on its optimum peak because most of the consumers nowadays are purchasing items online, and without a merchant account, the business will be at a lost.

Consider for a moment all the ways that companies use branding to build awareness of themselves or to promote their social awareness and customer service values. A few things come to mind such as greeters at the entrance of my favorite store, go-green awareness issues, charity drives that "give back" to the community for every purchase made, TV screens playing music videos or news as you wait in line, and so on. None of these things lead directly to conversions but they do lead to higher company awareness and the good old fashioned fuzzy-feelings we get when we know that we are valued as a customer. Most times we are probably not even aware of these things on a conscious level. Yet the effect shows as we have a tendency to advocate [spin] these companies more frequently than the other alternatives.

[spin] It was admitted branding is a viable marketing strategy. Businesses worldwide invest millions of dollars in branding campaigns each year.

Indeed, let's put aside pure branding campaigns. If you think about it, providing good customer service is branding too. The quality of customer service a company provides (good or bad), causes an image of that company to be branded into the consumers mind. Over time, a little here and a little there builds up into a solid perception of that company. Whether they like it or not, they have established a recognizable brand by doing little more than going about their business.

Undoubtedly, when it comes to realizing the benefits of social branding, most companies will tell you that it is valuable. But increases in sales can rarely be traced back to a single customer service or branding event. And that doesn't negate the value or stop companies from investing their money into these types of campaigns. The lack of trackable rate of return on a per-sale level doesn't make branding (or good customer service) an unnecessary expense. As a matter of fact, I don't think any consumer would argue against the necessity of excellent customer service. So what does all this have to do with social media?

The answer is that social media is branding. Over time target may see an increase in brand awareness and overall sales due to their clever TV commercials that do little more than show people dancing around a red target symbol, but I doubt they can trace any sales increase to a single commercial spot. To my mind, some supermarket chain can't track a single purchase to the addition of the elderly employee standing at the entrance greeting customers. But when we walk through those doors, we feel that our favourite supermarket cares just a little bit more about me, the customer. So goes social media.

What’s more, when we engage in social media and online social networking, we similarly don't see any immediate, trackable results. But, like branding and customer service, we don't need to in order to understand that it's valuable. Thus, when companies engage in social media they can't think of it as a traditional marketing expense with a return on investment that can be shown on paper. Results won't be seen immediately and usually only after a very long period of time, and you'll not likely be able to define a single new sale or customer on a particular social branding campaign.

You also have to take into account the fact that social media is still important. It provides a way for companies to get out there and get noticed. It's an opportunity to go where the consumers are and create a presence. Like a TV advertisement , you don't have to wait for consumers to find you, you go where they are. But instead of forcing yourself on them while they are watching their favorite TV show, social media lets you actually hang out with them. You're not the ad on the wall; you're the guy holding the drink telling stories that your audience finds alluring.

In addition, social media is better than branding and customer service. Because of the direct interaction social media affords the client with their customers, it truly is better than any branding campaign, including one-on-one customer service. Customer service means that the target consumer has to become a customer first (or at least be very close to becoming a customer) before you can make a good impression.

Social media however allows you to brand yourself long before anyone becomes your customer. And it can often be the catalyst that brings them over. And why wouldn't they? You've already become a part of the group. As a matter of fact, if you've done your social marketing right, you've already become their friend. It suggests that this is interactive branding at work.

Thus, don't be afraid to participate in social media just because you don't see the rate of return. You're not likely to, at least not immediately and not in a way you can pinpoint one event causing another. But over time, you can build your social reputation. This leads to credibility. And over time that credibility and awareness will very likely lead to an increase in your customer base.

The internet has brought us so many great things but is also brought us a few bad things and one of those things is SPAM. Everyone gets spam and we all hate it. Some people are targeted ruthlessly, especially those with websites, receiving hundreds per day. Did you know that about 40% of emails that are sent are Spam? It is annoying, frustrating and sometimes a very serious problem for some people. It can be dangerous because some messages are sent with viruses and Trojans which can be used to steal your personal information.

Spammers buy lists of email addresses from a list broker. If your email address appears in a newsgroup posting, on a website, in a chat room, or in an online service's membership directory, it is very possible it may find its way onto these lists. The spammer then uses special software that can send hundreds of thousands — even millions — of email messages to the addresses at the click of a mouse.

Filtering Spam wastes time and money, it is something we shouldn’t have to do. It is worth using software to combat it. There are so many different types of Anti-Spam on the market today who knows which is best. Buying the most expensive doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best.

Here are a few things you should remember to try and reduce the amount of Spam you receive:

•NEVER open Spam or Attachments in a Spam email- if you do, you run the risk of infecting your machine with viruses and Trojans.

•DO NOT click the unsubscribe link- this just confirms to them your email address is correct.

•Use different email accounts for different purposes for example, one for work one for your personal life and one for online shopping.

•DO NOT display your email address in public. That includes newsgroup postings, chat rooms, websites or in an online service's membership directory.

•Check the privacy policy when you submit your address to a website.

•Use an email filter. Check your email account to see if it provides a tool to filter out potential spam or a way to channel spam into a bulk email folder. Or buy an email filter.

Unless we all try to fight spam it will only get worse. We need to all be aware of the dangers of leaving our personal information on websites, forums or chat rooms. Using spam filters is one way to fight the spammers and I would recommend we all use one.

If you are really fed up with Spam and none of the above reduces the amount you receive you could report it to the Federal Trade Commission. If the “remove me” request is not honoured you can send a copy of unwanted or deceptive messages to spam@uce.gov. You could complain by filling out the FTC’s online compliant form on their site: www.ftc.gov. The FTC uses the unsolicited emails stored in this database to pursue law enforcement actions against people who send deceptive spam email.

Affiliate programs are a great way for business owners to increase their sales. Unfortunately, when it comes to affiliate programs, many business owners are misinformed. That misinformation often involves who can benefit from the use of an affiliate program. Many business owners mistakenly believe that you have to be the owner of an online retail store to have an affiliate program. This just simply is not true. In fact, if you own an online business that offers a collection of services, you can also benefit from the development of an affiliate program.

Online, there are a number of different businesses that offer services to the general public. These services will vary depending on the type of business it is. Popular business services include, but should not be limited to, debt consolidation, web hosting, web design, and freelance writing. These business owners, like yourself, may not be selling actual merchandise, but their business still relies on sales. The more their services are purchased, the more money the business will be able to make. If you are noticing a decrease in your service sales, you may want to think about starting your own affiliate program.

Affiliate programs are used to bring business owners, just like yourself, and website owners together. This joint collaboration will not only work out well for you and your business, but for the website owner that you are partnering with. This is because most website owners, who participate in an affiliate program, will be compensated for their work. This compensation often involves a percentage of the sale that they helped your business generate. However, to track this important information, you will need to find an affiliate tracking software program.

Affiliate tracking software is how affiliate programs are able to operate. In fact, without these programs, there may have never been the development of affiliate programs. This is because without tracking software it would be difficult, or even impossible, for most businesses to determine whether or not one of their affiliate websites helped to generate a sale. Therefore, if you are looking to develop an affiliate program for your business, you will need to decide on an affiliate tracking software program. Although this may seem like an easy decision, it isn’t always.

Online, you will find a large number of different affiliate tracking software programs. Many of these programs are designed and sold by different individuals and companies. Each of these programs is likely to include different services and features. These services and features are important because they will not only alert you to a quality software program, but one that you will actually be able to use and benefit from. To find one of these programs, you are advised to perform a standard internet search.

When performing a standard internet search, it is advised that you search with the words affiliate tracking software. Those search words should produce a fairly large number of results. In most cases, those results will direct you to affiliate tracking software that is available for sale. In addition to software that is available for sale, you may also find a number of other websites. These websites are likely to be resource guides for business owners, just like you. These websites often outline the importance of affiliate programs and how to make them a success. Since affiliate tracking software is an important component of that success, it is likely that you will find software reviews or software recommendations online. Even if you find affiliate software that has an outstanding review, you are still advised to examine the software for yourself.

As you can easily see, with the right software, anything is possible, especially when it comes to affiliate programs. To increase your business’s sales, even if you do not sell any merchandise, you are advised to consider starting your own affiliate program. It may end up being one of the best decisions ever made for you and your online business.

In the modern age, the combination of medicine and communications technology is apparent with the continued growth of the

Internet. The online pharmacy market is a steadily-growing business, with the need for regulatory boards and licensing system

becoming more and more apparent. However, the online pharmacy sector is not the only aspect of the medical system that is

making headway on the Internet. Thanks to the combination of the Internet, phone lines, and webcam technology, it is now

possible for a patient to have a consultation over the Internet. While these are convenient ways for a person to have his

symptoms diagnosed, there are a few things that need to be kept in mind.

The first problem is the issue of reliability of information. Like an online pharmacy that dispenses prescription-only

medication, the problem is in the limited amount of information that can be given over the Internet. On most online

consultation systems, the doctor has to rely mostly on what the patient says, with no option to physically check the

patient's signs, such as blood pressure and pulse. The same problem applies even with webcam technology being fully utilized,

because there is still no data coming from tactile signs that a doctor can take note of during a regular, face-to-face

examination. This lack of information may not seem all that important, but when once considers the risk of a doctor creating

a mistaken diagnosis based on the lack of information, it suddenly becomes more of a concern.

However, the option of having a medical consultation online, just like ordering from an online pharmacy, is terribly

convenient. The primary source of the convenience is the ability to get a consultation and prescription remotely. This is a

benefit for those who cannot, for one reason or another, physically visit a doctor's office and can't arrange for a physician

to visit them in their home. It can also be useful in getting last-minute prescriptions, if the online consultation service

is not the type that requires scheduling the appointment beforehand. Services of this sort can be very useful when trying to

obtain a prescription before having to engage in some time-sensitive activity that prevents them from seeing a doctor.

There are currently no concrete statistics to show the lack of tactile information to be a significant problem for online

consultation services. While this is a positive thing, systems of this sort are still relatively new and there hasn't been

that much of a time period for independent groups to gather long-term data yet. Another issue some might have is the lack of

any regulatory body for this outcrop of the industry, which means that consumers are the ones that bear the full

responsibility of ensuring their safety. This is to be expected from any industry that conducts business online that has

real-world ramifications, but it would help alleviate the worries of many a consumer if there was some sort of authority or

organization that verifies whether an online consultation and prescription service was a legitimate one.

If you have your online business up and running you may want to look at your bottom line and ask yourself if you’re making as much as you can. Think about where you want to be. Are you comfortable at your current level or do you want it to be more?

If you think you should be doing more, then you may want to consider making some of the following changes. First, take a look at your website and sales letter. Is there anything that you can improve? You may want to consider investigating some sites that offer free content targeted at attracting customers and establishing your credibility. Some sites are merely one sales letter. There are many ways to set up a site. You need to think about what works for you.

Some people like to have many smaller sites to generate business. They like that because they have no other content and it will focus concentration on the message. If necessary, hire someone to do the writing for you. A well written sales letter will pay for itself many times over. If you decide to change your sales letter, be sure to keep copies for reference along the way. This way you can compare against older letters to see what gets better results.

If you want to reach potential customers, try a direct mailing. You can do this by sending postcards. Many people like to be contacted by way of mail. If you send anything by way of email it runs the risk of being overlooked. Although going online is a popular way to reach people, it isn’t the only way. There is a big world outside of the internet. If used effectively, you can get many people to read your message.

Look at who you attract online. Are they repeat customers? Think of ways to compliment your products. If you have product additions, it’s always good to let your customers know. If they’re happy with one product, maybe they’ll be happy with another product that ties in with the first one. Perhaps you offer a service that might be of interest to someone. Let your customers know if you are available for work and other services. Offer them a discount or incentive to use you again. Repeat customers can make great referrals to others about your online business.

With the wealth of information available, there’s always something new to learn. There might be something new out there that can significantly change your business for the better. Study some manuals that offer advice. Of course you wouldn’t have time to read all that are available, but you can focus on one or two of them. Study them then put the ideas to work and track their success.

Widen your income opportunities. If you sell a home repair book for example, you may want to then sell blueprints or project plans for things like a deck or a utility shed. The idea is to find a natural connection.

As with any business, forging alliances is key for success. Think about a new market to become jointly involved with. For instance, take a home repair book and then become a home loan or construction loan affiliate. Find another great target group that can benefit from your service or product.

In order to grow your business, you’ll need to constantly scout for new ones while keeping the business you have. Sometimes slight changes or adjustments are needed to increase your income from your online business.

The term "server" sounds ominous to those who do not really understand what a server is. So the thought of owning your own server is to much to handle. Most website owners share the resources of a host server provided by a third party business at a low monthly cost. The problem with this is that your visitors may experience delays and your site may have difficulty loading with extreme traffic. In these cases it is wise to invest in a dedicated server devoted just for your website. A "server" in basic terms is nothing much more than a normal computer that has been dedicated to directing data traffic in a local network and doubles as a safe gatetway for data trafic to and from the internet. In fact the computer you are using right now is probably capable of being set up as a server but a real server has a few extra hardware features to make it a more stable unit. It is this stability that causes the price of a dedicated server to be so costly. It has to be designed to be turned on for long periods of time, to back up data regularly, to hold large amounts of data and to handle fast data transfer. A small business server that has these features will usually cost AU$8000 or more compared to a normal computer priced under AU$2000. Then there is the added cost of aquiring a dedicated IP address (about AU$10 per month) and the internet service provider will probably charge you by the data transfer rate that you use rather than a set amount each month and this can become quite costly if you are moving a lot of data.

On the plus side owning a server has a number of advantages. To start with if you are a business currently running or are planning to start up a website that deals in ecommerce, runs any kind of service, is graphics hungry or needs to provide download fast you may want to think about owning a dedicated server. As a result you will gain...

1. Security

Since no one else is sharing your web space, a dedicated server is far more secure. If you are trading in large amounts of data or money transfer this kind of extreme security can be vital to protect you and your customers. If you are going to set up ecommerce it is vital to set up your fire walls correctly (usually a feature of either your router or the server software) but only you will have this security password information. This removes the possibility of a third party host (because you are not using one) from accessing your private information.

2. Software

Although the initial cost on server software is not cheap the control this software provides over such things as user access and email is worth the effort. Also the possibilities for using various scripts and other software are endless with your own dedicated server. It means you can handle what files or folders can be accessed without hours of fiddling as is required when working on a remote server and making web changes become as simple as cut and paste..

3. Storage

Of course you will have much more space. If you runn out of space just add another hard drive! You can have far more images, videos and all sorts of other features and if you are experienced enough you can even sub let space to other domains or become a host selling your space.

4. Bandwidth

The bandwidth supplied by your internet provider is all yours, so traffic coming to your site will have no problems accessing your site at full speed.

5. Speed

You will find that a large site with many features will load very quickly, as the server is all yours, so no other websites are loading from it. Then all that remains is to ensure your internet provider has adequate bandwidth to serve the number of visitors you website services.

All in all we recommend the use or a dedicated server but it is hard work setting one up if you do not have enough experience. In truth after all the bother and expense, our own choice was to use a third party hosting service. For that reason we also provide %domain name registration% and %web hosting% links on all of our websites for our visitors.
